Lancaster, CA. July 27, 2011 – Kids and adults alike are invited to join Kathy’s Critters for a fun and educational presentation of live desert animals. This exciting presentation will feature snakes, lizards and many other animals to enjoy!
The presentation will be held in the Interpretive Center at Prime Desert Woodland Preserve (35th Street W. and K-8) on August 6, 2011 at 1pm. The presentation will start on time. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to get a good seat.
WHAT: The City of Lancaster, in conjunction with InSite Development, will host a movie premiere-style VIP grand opening of the newest hip, luxury cinema in northern L.A. County. The event will begin with VIP arrivals, interviews and photo opportunities along the red carpet.
The VIP reception will also allow for photos and interviews, as well as a first look at the eclectic “Forge” store housed within the 3-story complex. Guests will then attend a private movie showing.
All proceeds from the evening will benefit Desert Haven.

WHY: Families, friends and neighbors from around the Antelope Valley will gather for an evening of FREE fun and relaxation in Palmdale.
BACKGROUND: Thursday Night on the Square, a series of summer events presented by the City of Palmdale, provides the community with free children’s activities, free live music, food vendors, and an open-air market. Weekly entertainment includes live music in the gazebo until 9 pm, sponsored by Valleywide Dental; Barnes & Noble Storytelling at 6:30 pm; and the new interactive show, Camp TNOTS, at 7:30 pm, sponsored by High Desert Medical Group. Free children’s activities include the all-new Game Garden featuring a variety of games, and the Children’s Art & Activity Center (for children age 12 and under). Each week, one lucky person caught “green-handed” – disposing of recyclable waste in the proper container – will win a solar-powered backpack capable of charging an mp3 player, cell phone, camera or laptop, courtesy of Waste Management.
Pets are not permitted, except dogs on July 28 for the Mardi Paws event. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and alcohol is not allowed.
